The measure distance tool is a simple way of measuring distances between points on the map or calculating the surface area of a polygon.

1. Click the Tools button to open the Tools menu.
   
2. In the Tools menu click Measure distance and area.
   
3. Left click anywhere on the map and click again to add additional points.
4. Hold the CTRL button to pan while measuring.
5. Right click to finish.
